Why Oral Biopsy?

A biopsy at Oxbury Family Dental is a safe and simple way to investigate unusual spots, lumps, or sores in your mouth. Catching changes early can make all the difference.

✅ Unexplained white or red patches
✅ Persistent ulcers or sores that don’t heal
✅ Lumps, swellings, or thickened tissue
✅ Changes in the texture or color of oral tissue
✅ Lesions associated with dentures or trauma

A biopsy allows us to identify if a lesion is harmless, precancerous, or something that needs further treatment—giving you peace of mind and a clear path forward.

What to Expect?

1️⃣ Oral Exam & Consultation

We assess the area of concern and determine whether a biopsy is needed based on size, shape, and how long it’s been present.

2️⃣ Tissue Collection

Under local anesthetic, we gently remove a small sample of the abnormal tissue for lab analysis. The process is usually quick and minimally invasive.

3️⃣ Healing & Aftercare

Mild soreness or swelling is normal and typically resolves within a few days. We’ll provide specific care instructions to ensure proper healing.

4️⃣ Lab Results & Follow-Up

Once we receive your results, we’ll contact you to explain the findings and discuss any next steps, if necessary.
